First traffic jam in the Leaf. Love it. If I want to have fun, then the Miata on a back road is where it's at. But in this slog? An electric car is fantastic

Oppo needs to stop buying electric/hybrids, y'all are making me want a Volt.

Don't look now, but volts are cheap. CPO, 20k miles, like 12 grand. Only reason I got a leaf instead is me and car seats was too tight a fit, since I'm tall in the torso

Hacking your digital speedometer so you can film at high speeds without attracting attention from the cops.
Smart.

Not gonna lie, I expect to be driving an electric car by 2030

Unfortunately I’ ve already looked! I’d prefer a Gen 2 Premier, which seem to be going for around $ 21k. I still need to sit in one and drive one. But the Gen 2 gets a nice range bump from 35 mi to 53 mi.
I commute about 28 miles a day round trip, from Sterling to Bethesda, so a Gen 1 would work, but I also go up to Frederick, MD every weekend, which is about 40 miles each way. A Gen 2 would cover 90% of my driving all electric.

For those of us with a garage of gas powered options, it's a no brainier. 100 miles of range is more than enough to commute in. Any other trip is one of three other gas powered cars we own.

I would buy an electric car if I could get one with a manual trans, but that will never happen

I don't get it, but I love it!

I did the exact same math, starting in Vienna and ending in silver spring. I didn't care which trim level, though, so that brought price down and options up. But it's a good idea

No, I don't think so

I drive enough and sit in enough traffic that I want the most comfortable option.

I mean you have complete manual control over the transmission in the Leaf:
That’s it, that’s all the gears, and you get to pick all for yourself if you want to be Reverse, Neutral, or Drive (first gear, which is the only forward gear). Totally manual!
Unless of course you are one of those weirdos who doesn’t think manual gear selection is what makes a manual and demands a clutch pedal ...

Welcome to the club, glad you’re enjoying it. Really is amazing to commute in. Seamless, instant power while being super quiet -and small packaging and nimble at the same time. Really pretty hard to beat for a city car or commuter. I had recently been complaining about wrist pain constantly shifting gears in my E46 commuting to work too – that has substantially decreased, and makes the times that I do drive the E46 a lot more enjoyable.
Now imagine all those other people who could be driving one of these things for a majority of their driving - so many benefits - but aren’t.

About 7 months after I bought my i3, a buddy of mine asked how I was liking it. I told him that I didn’t hate driving anymore.

Morgan made electric cars with a manual transmission.

Hey, ingot two throttle settings and two battery regeneration settings! What more choice do you want?

Yup. I get home to wife and kids in a better mood.

Thanks! It's perfect for commuting, I really can't day that enough. And yeah, the Miata time is that much more enjoyable
